The Oakwood kennels came into being in 2001 with the purchase of
(the late) Coalville Sony (Matadan Pip x Wyremead Cereberus). Prior
to owning Sony, who was my first plummer terrier, I kept other types
of terriers, patterdales and fell crosses. I have bred only
a small amount of litters myself, as my interest lies in working
the terriers.
Coalville Sony was the best working dog that I have ever been lucky
enough to own. Not only a very striking dog to look at (he
was overall Champion Plummer Terrier at the Midland in 2003, when
still very young) but also a very good working dog, both above and
especially below ground. His dam, Matadan (Moorgate) Pip,
was said to be one of the best working bitches at the time owned
by Coalville kennels.

Rest in Peace
Coalville Sony himself was not used prolifically as
a sire but he sired a very small number of top quality plummer terriers,
amongst them Oakwood Nellie (pictured right), Oakfield Diva,
Oakfield Diesel, Pendragon Blitz,
Saxon Pip,
Meg &
Lily. Luckily for us, he sired his very last litter only weeks
before he sadly passed away, two bitch puppies, Saxon
Petal & Keela and I have kept a puppy from his very last
litter,
Saxon Keela (Coalville Sony x Wyremead
Suzi). Both of Keela's parents are quality working dogs
and I have high hopes for her in the future.
My terriers are all worked
on all legal forms of vermin control on keepered estates where I
am lucky to have permission.
